The 2005 vintage wines are the second release from Hoklas Family Vineyards. The first release was from the 2004 vintage and we produced 100 cases of Shiraz and 50 cases of Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2005 wines consist of 150 cases of Shiraz and 75 cases of Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon. These handpicked and hand pruned single vineyard wines were made from grapes grown on our vineyard at Gomersal. The wines have been aged in American and French oak barrels for two winters and stored in the old wine cellar on the property.

2005 Gomersal Shiraz:

This classic Barossa blend is made from 100% Shiraz grapes grown on our vineyard at Gomersal on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley.

Colour: Opaque red-black, purple rim
Aroma: Very dense and rich. Ripe blackberry with a gentle oak vanillin overlay.
Palate: Almost slippery in structure and mouth feel. Very classic ripe Shiraz from a classic vintage. Soft, long tannin structure with hints of liquorice and star-anise.

2005 Gomersal Shiraz/Cabernet:

This wine is made from 80% Shiraz and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on our vineyard at Gomersal on the western ridge of the Barossa Valley.

Colour: Opaque red-black, scarlet rim
Aroma: Rich & dense. Sweet vanillan with ripe red berry Shiraz combined with the black currant character of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Palate: Soft and well rounded. Sweet toasty oak vanillan taste. Shiraz blackberry fruit flavours dominate with a hint of black currant. Very soft and plush tannins on the finish.

With careful cellaring these wines will continue to develop and be enjoyed for many years.
